IRS Pushes U.S. tax filing deadline to May 17th
You will now have a little more time to file your taxes in 2021. CNBC has confirmed that the IRS will move the deadline to file taxes from the traditional date of April 15th to May 15th, 2021. That gives taxpayers one extra month to get everything ready and filed.
For much of this year, and especially after the passing of the “American Rescue Plan“, many were pushing for a extension to the tax season. It now looks like that is indeed going to be the case. As early as last week, the IRS was still suggesting that the April 15th deadline would not be changed.

CORRECTION: CNBC originally reported the incorrect date. This post has been updated to reflect the correct date of May 17th.
